CLOSED

Note: From Facebook Sept 2025:
The current owner of the Sapphire National can not make the course work financialy after years of neglect and poor management. The course was down to 9 holes, since the hurricane, and now is closed. The golf carts have been repossessed. The future of Sapphire National is uncertain and will be tied up in court for the forseeable future. As the only public course available within 20 miles, Sapphire National has potential. Potential that will require a qualified operator to tap!
The SVMA is having to fix critical infastructure issues that should be the responsibility of the golf course owners, Sapphire Resort Enterprises LLC. This includes the golf cart tunnel under Tray's Island Road ,and in the future possibly, the Fairfield Lake dam and spillway which has been in violation of State guidelines for over 10 years.
The SVMA faces significant challenges as they navigate through all this. The potential impact to the Sapphire community is significant. Hopefully the course can be restored to it's past glory, but it will take time if it will happen at all.

An example of some of Sapphire National Golf holes follows:

Sapphire National Hole 5

Hole #5. 530 yds. Par 5.

A truly beautiful Par 5. Beware of the bunkers and creek that cross the fairway. Slightly uphill approach to a green that slopes from back to front..

Sapphire National Hole 2

Hole #2. 225 yds. Par 3.

One of most intimidating Par 3s you will ever play. While the green has been lowered 8 feet and doubled in size, it is still one of the most exciting holes on the golf course. Green is located over 100 feet below the back tee. Par is a great score on this hole.

Sapphire National Hole 16

Hole #16. 320 yds. Par 4.

A short Par 4 that can be driven by the long hitter. Four bunkers guard the green, making this a great risk-reward hole where birdie hopes can easily translate into bogies.

Sapphire National Golf

Sapphire National Golf Club is the only 18 hole golf course in the Highlands, Cashiers, and Sapphire region that is open to the public. (Red Bird's 9 hole layout is open to the pubic.) Sapphire National Golf Club offers the ultimate memorable experience for all avid golfers, from its dramatic par 4, 13th hole that is nestled beside a majestic waterfall, to the postcard Par 3, 15th hole that hosts an island green.
